39). Lyttleton Harbor  Near Christchurch, New Zealand (January 2002)

Pronounced "Littleton," this is the seaport for the thriving metropolis of Christchurch, which lies just over the hill.  Lyttleton was the departure point for most expeditions to Antarctica in the early 1900s and its ties to Antarctica are still strong.
