As I described in the previous photo, I met a delightful 87-year old woman in North Dakota named Hester Bailey who, as I discovered, was my
grandmother's kindergarten pupil in 1921. I never knew my grandmother, who died when I was young, so meeting Hester was a thrill. After
Hester looked through photos that my grandmother had taken in 1921, she recognized herself (circled) in this picture, taken when she was six years
old. She had never seen this photo before. The children are standing in front of the Canfield School, which burned down a few years later.
